Jim Morisson was an American singer, poet, songwriter and the lead singer of the rock band The Doors.

In his name, James Douglas Morrisson, he later had one "s" removed from his name. His parents were very conservative, and Jim didn't get along with them (later on, he would even falsely claim that his parents were dead). He graduated from Alexandria, Virginia, afterward, he began studying film in LA in 1964. However, Jim dropped out of school and met Ray Manzarek in the summer of 1965. It was at Venice Beach, where Jim sang him the song Moonlight Drive. Ray was thrilled and the new band's creation did not take long. The Doors was formed by singer Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, and drummer John Densmore.

Jim was strongly influenced by the Beat philosophy of life. He loved Kerouak and dreamed of the life of Neal Cassady, the hero of the novel On the Road. He also wrote poetry (influenced by Nietzsche), which he then published at his own expense. The young audience adored him.

The Doors performances were an incredible experience. Jim was constantly interfering with the rhythm of the music, and the whole concerts were more like something otherworldy. He has come into conflict with the law many times. He used a lot of hallucinogenic substances most frequently LSD.

Frequent concerts and a fast life ruined his health. He was upset that people went to his concerts because of his persona and not because of his music and lyrics. He grew his beard and gained a lot of weight. His alcoholism continued to worsen.

In 1971 he went to Paris, where he planned to write poetry and rest after recording his last album, L.A. Woman. The Doors decided to record L.A. Woman in their old rehearsal room where they started years ago. The whole album is recorded live and almost all at once.

Jim Morrison died on July 3, 1971 in Paris. His death is still shrouded in mystery.
